In the story Cynthia Rylant wrote I think the  life lesson of Planting Things is to never give up because Ms.Willows is giving up on life because she is too old. But Mr.Willis he is old too but he isn't giving up on life he thinks that there is still a lot for him to do.If I were Ms.Willis I would try to go outside and see the world instead of just laying around in bed.
