Week 3 - Group 5 - Number the Stars - Aisdhaka

During chapter 14 and 15, two german soldiers stopped Annemarie from taking the package to Uncle Henrick. What might the importance of this package be, in the context of the story. How does the author use this incident to build suspense?

If you were Annemarie, how would you be feeling at this stage and why? Use evidence from the text to support your ideas.

The importance the package is the handkerchief inside because the drugs on the handkerchief numbed the dogs noses so they could not sniff out the Jewish hiders. Lois Lowry built suspense using the soldiers to slow down Annemarie and make you think that she might not be able to deliver the package. First if I were her I would feel sacred that the Germans might take the handkerchief and because Uncle Henrick might have all ready left for Sweden. After I delivered the package i would feel relived because the most dangerous part of my mini mission was over.
