I think that Rob is a confused and lonely person.
I say this because Rob is always mentioning the name"Mom" and keeps all his emotions closed in his legs(suitcase). As a person he is confused because he thinks that if he let all his emotions out, he is going to drift of to sadness. He says he doesen't want anybody to know about himself. In the book it said:"Rob felt like darkness covered all around. This shows that he is confused and lonely.
